Main activities
Representative IR activities include holding earnings briefings, preparing and publishing earnings presentation materials and integrated reports, running shareholder meetings, holding individual dialogue with institutional investors, and hosting briefings for individual investors. A growing number of companies conduct voluntary communication in addition to legally required disclosures, so that investors can understand and properly evaluate the company.
What to keep in mind
Companies with active IR activity are sometimes viewed as having a higher degree of transparency, but because the information communicated is compiled from the company's own perspective, it is worth cross-checking it against primary sources such as earnings summaries and securities reports.
